HOWTO: Export or Backup content from WordPress.com?
UPDATE:
this rant has been deprecated by the “XML Import / Export“
WordPress.com FAQ on: Is everything being backed up?
«…In the future you’ll also be able to download a personal XML backup of your data, but we don’t have a timeline on that quite yet.»This entry was posted on Wednesday, September 28th, 2005
so far there is no any possibility to export all posts (not just recent ones), not speaking about of exporting comments to them. I am still wondering whether that light future ever shall become? cause if it wont — WordPress.com can’t be considered as a serious blogging service: no backups, no chance to transfer content to self hosted blog in the future.
EDIT:
currently you can export text of all articles as an RSS feed. images and other attachments uploaded to WP.com and linked to articles should be downloaded manually. still, I do not know how to export: static Pages, Category and Links structures; import: comments.
um, how do i export all articles? i couldnt find it anywhere
howdy sketchyd,
please check this FAQ article on ‘Backups‘.
does it address your question?
See, we don’t just make that stuff up. ;)
